Buck family papers 1829-1860.

Papers of the Buck, Bayly, Blakemore, Calmes, and other related families relate chiefly to members of the family who migrated west and south, as well as those who remained in northern Virginia and Baltimore. Collection contains letters, 1852, from a former slave, Mariah Cooper, who was manumitted by Ruhanna Buck, and living in Washington County, Pa. Topics of interest include a steamboat race on the Mississippi, 1829, and Henry Clay.
